Match Preview

Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians lock horns in the 13th match of IPL 2026 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday, April 7.

RR have had two positive results so far. The franchise annihilated CSK in the first match at their second home in Assam, completing an eight-wicket win with almost eight overs left. The second game was a humdinger and tested the skills and temperament of the RR bowlers, among whom Tushar Deshpande starred with precise yorkers at the death to help his team to a six-run win.

MI began with a bang against KKR. Despite the bowlers conceding 220 runs in the first innings at the Wankhede Stadium, the batters, in particular, Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickelton scored two-thirds of the runs to lead MI to a thumping win. In the second match, however, DC strangled the batters and Rizvi's masterly 90* took the game away from MI in Delhi.

Hardik Pandya did not feature in the previous match due to sickness, but the all-rounder is most likely to come back in this game considering that he trained two days out from the match. Apart from the possible inclusion of Hardik, it does not look like MI would tinker with the rest of the line-up. Similarly, RR have clicked as a unit. Unless the conditions compel certain kinds of changes, the teams are likely to be very much the same.

Players to watch out for in RR vs MI

Rohit Sharma (MI)

Rohit has had an excellent start to the 2026 season, scoring 78 and 35 in the first two matches against KKR and DC, respectively. Given the way the veteran Indian has played, a big score is not away. The opening combination of he and Rickelton is complementing each other and Rohit appears to be enjoying his batting of late.

Nandre Burger (RR)

Burger has picked up five wickets in two innings so far. The South African speedster's spell at this same ground in the first match against CSK was incisive as the left-armer rocked the opposition top order early on. The bowler is in rhythm and was still effective in the previous match against GT on a surface which aided batting considerably.
