Kuldeep Yadav is one of the finest left-arm wrist spinners going around in world cricket. The 31-year-old is India's lead wicket-taking spinner in white-ball cricket. He has also carved a name for himself in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by virtue of several match-winning performances over the years.
Kuldeep's journey in the IPL began in 2014 when Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bought him for INR 40 lakhs at the auction. However, the then youngster was made to warm the bench for two years. He finally got his opportunity to showcase his talent in the 2016 season when he claimed six wickets in three games at an economy rate of 8.33.

KKR were impressed by what they saw of the young leggie and unleashed him in 2017. Kuldeep bagged 12 wickets across 11 innings at an economy rate of 8.29. His annual IPL earnings registered a massive jump of 1350% when KKR offered him a contract of INR 5.80 crore.
He responded with another solid performance, bagging 17 wickets in 16 games at an economy rate of 8.14 in 2018. However, his wicket-taking form nosedived as he could only bag five wickets across 14 games in the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
He was released ahead of the IPL 2022 auction and found a new home at Delhi Capitals (DC). Delhi splurged INR 2 crore to acquire his services. Kuldeep bagged 21 wickets in his maiden IPL season for DC at an economy rate of 8.43. He could only claim 10 wickets in 14 matches in 2023, but it came at a better economy rate of 7.36. The crafty spinner followed it up with a 16-wicket season in 2024.
Impressed with his growing contribution, Delhi handed him a paycheck of INR 13.25 crore for IPL 2025. He was offered the same amount to represent the side in IPL 2026.
