Mohammed Siraj rose to the limelight after finishing as the leading wicket-taker for Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy 2016-17, with 41 scalps from 17 innings. His breakthrough season helped him earn his maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) contract as he was bought for Rs 2.6 Crore by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of 2017 season.
After impressing in his debut season with ten wickets from six innings, Siraj was acquired by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the 2018 edition and became a vital cog in the franchise for seven years. After some modest returns for the first five seasons in RCB, he had his best-ever IPL season in 2023.

The right-arm speedster scalped 19 wickets from 14 innings at an average of 19.73 and an economy of 7.50. However, Siraj couldn’t replicate his magic in the following two years, scalping 15 wickets (14 innings) in 2024 and 16 wickets (15 innings) in 2025.

He was eventually released by RCB ahead of the 2025 mega auction and found a new home in Gujarat Titans (GT), who bought him for Rs 12.25 Crore at the auction. Siraj bowled several match-winning spells during his first season in Gujarat, including a remarkable performance of 3/19 against RCB in Bengaluru that earned him the Player of the Match award in his team’s eight-wicket win.
He followed it up with another match-winning 4/17 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to script a seven-wicket win for Gujarat and earned the Player of the Match award. Siraj finished the season with 16 wickets from 15 innings, helping Gujarat reach the playoffs.
In 2026, he has again continued his form, having scalped 17 wickets from 14 innings so far at an average of 25.76 and playing a key role in helping Gujarat finish in the top two of the IPL 2026 points table.
