Ravi Bishnoi was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, on September 5, 2000, in a non-cricketing family. His father was a headmaster at a government school and didn’t like the idea of his son pursuing the sport. However, his mother was his biggest support and encouraged Bishnoi to follow his heart.
The wrist-spinner finally made his T20 debut for Rajasthan during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2018-19 after facing heartbreak at the age-group level. He scalped four wickets in his debut season from as many matches at a brilliant economy of 6.07.

Bishnoi finally rose to prominence after being picked up by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for a whopping Rs 2 Crore at the IPL 2020 auction. He followed it with a stellar show in the Under-19 World Cup 2020, finishing as the tournament’s highest wicket taker with 17 wickets from six innings at an average of 10.64 and an economy of 3.48.
Bishnoi scalped 12 wickets in his debut IPL season from 14 matches and even got better the following year, taking just nine matches to add 12 more scalps to his tally. His consistent performances even helped him earn the India colours as he made his T20I debut in February, 2022 against West Indies and registered impressive figures of 2/17 in four overs.
The same year, he made his ODI debut as well against South Africa, which remains his only appearance in the 50-over format. In 2023, Bishnoi had his best-ever IPL season, where he managed to take 16 wickets from 14 innings.
He was adjudged Player of the Series in India’s 4-1 T20I series win against Australia the same year for snaffling nine wickets from five games — a performance which also catapulted him to the top of ICC T20I bowling rankings.
Bishnoi boasts phenomenal numbers in his T20I career, having scalped 64 wickets from 44 innings at an average of 19.51 and an economy of 7.40. The 25-year-old has 77 wickets to his name in his IPL career, with best figures of 4/41. As Bishnoi continues to bamboozle batters with his variations in the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026), here’s a comparison of his BCCI and IPL contracts over the years:
