Sunil Narine has become synonymous with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The champion mystery spinner has become the first overseas player in the history of the IPL to play 200 IPL games. The 37-year-old also holds the record for being the only player to have taken 200 or more wickets in the IPL for a single franchise.
Narine's IPL journey began at the 2012 IPL auction when KKR bought him for INR 3.40 crore. The Trinidadian impressed straightaway by claiming 24 wickets in 15 games at an economy rate of 5.47. He played a vital role in helping the Gautam Gambhir-led side win their maiden IPL silverware.

His IPL earnings increased to 3.72 crore in 2013 and 9.50 crore in 2014. Narine snared 21 scalps in the 2014 season at an economy rate of 6.35 and contributed massively as KKR clinched their second title. His earnings remained at INR 9.50 crore until the 2017 season, after which he was retained for INR 8.50 crore (a 11% decline) for the 2018 season.
It further declined by 29% to INR 6 crore in 2022 and remained at that level until 2024. However, KKR paid INR 12 crore to retain him for the 2025 season - an uptick of 100%. He was offered the same amount for turning up for them in the 2026 season of the cash-rich league.
