The Indian Premier League 2026 (2026) has been a rather bizarre season for fielders as several catches have been dropped in the ongoing edition. Players seem to have applied butter all over their fingers, as chances have gone down at an alarming rate.
While most teams take pride in their excellent work in the field, some are struggling to grab catches at crucial stages of the game, which has repeatedly led to their downfall in the season. Here’s a look at three such teams with a poor catching efficiency in IPL 2026:

3. Chennai Super Kings (75.36%)
The five-time champions have had one of the worst seasons as a fielding side, which is a major contributing factor behind their poor show so far. While CSK’s campaign still hangs in the balance with two matches remaining in the league stage, their fielding has let them down time and again. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side has the third-worst catching efficiency of the season with a success rate of 75.36%.
2. Punjab Kings (72.05%)
The Shreyas Iyer-led side had a dream start to their campaign, being unbeaten in the first seven matches of the season. However, their campaign has unravelled in the last six matches as Punjab has failed to register a single victory. Punjab’s poor fielding has affected other aspects of their game as well, as they’re the second-worst fielding side in the competition with a catching efficiency of 72.05%.
1. Delhi Capitals (71.43%)
Delhi Capitals’ hopes of making it to the playoffs are also hanging by a loose thread as the Axar Patel-led side is placed seventh on the IPL 2026 points table with 12 points from 13 matches. DC are the worst fielding side of the season, with a catching efficiency of 71.43%. Their poor fielding has resulted in several losses, with the most notable one being the high-scoring fixture against Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
