Another Indian Premier League (IPL) final is knocking on our doors as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are set to lock horns in the mega encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Both teams finished in the top two positions of the IPL 2026 points table and will put their best foot forward to win their second IPL title.
There’s nothing in the world that tests a player’s temperament like a big final. While the enormity of the occasion can bring some under immense pressure, some desperately wait for the high-stakes encounter to bring their A game to the fore.

In the history of IPL finals, several players have stood up for their teams when they needed them the most and helped them clinch the coveted title. Every run from the bat proves to be gold dust in such high-intensity fixtures, helping teams to pile on the pressure on the opposition.
Nobody has mastered the art of scoring in IPL finals like the legendary Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) batter Suresh Raina. The southpaw played eight finals in his career and was even adjudged Player of the Match in CSK’s maiden title victory in 2010.
Raina scored an unbeaten 57* (35) to help CSK post a good score of 168/5 against Mumbai Indians (MI). Later, he also scalped one wicket, giving away 21 runs in his two overs, playing a key role in CSK’s 22-run victory. Raina leads the run-scoring charts in IPL finals, having accumulated 249 runs from eight innings at an average of 35.57 and a strike rate of 150, with two half-centuries to his name.
The second place is occupied by legendary all-rounder Shane Watson, who guided CSK to their third IPL title in 2018 with a breathtaking innings of 117* (57) in the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He almost won them the 2019 final against Mumbai Indians (MI) as well, but was unfortunately run out on 80 (59) in the last over as CSK eventually lost by one run.
