The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will elect a new president during the elections set to be held on June 7, the board’s election commission announced on Saturday. The general members' body, also known as the councillors, will elect 23 of the 25 board directors, while the Bangladesh government will elect the remaining two. The BCB President will be chosen from the pool of 25 board directors and will serve a four-year term.
Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal is the current BCB president in an ad-hoc committee formed by the government in April. He’s also among the councillors, and is expected to conduct both the directors' and the president's election on June 7.

The last BCB elections were held in October, 2025, where another former captain, Aminul Islam, won with a sweeping majority. However, a report from an investigation committee formed by the Bangladesh government to look into the 2025 elections found serious abuse of power during the polling exercise.
Only a few members from Aminul's board of directors will be participating in the upcoming elections. According to ESPNCricinfo, Aminul is reportedly in Australia, while another former BCB president, Faruque Ahmed, who was in Aminul's group, is not participating.
Final voters' list to be unveiled soon
The draft voters' list to select the 23 directors was published on Sunday, and the final list will be unveiled by the board later this week.
The elections are set to be held in three categories; the first ten directors will be elected from the divisions and districts in Bangladesh. In the second, 12 directors will be elected from the representatives of the Dhaka clubs.
In the third, one director will be elected from a pool of former cricketers, national captains, security forces, and councillors nominated by the National Sports Council. The Bangladesh government will select the remaining two directors to sit on the board.
