Fast bowler Brydon Carse has been added to England’s squad for the ongoing three-match ODI series against India after recovering from injuries. Carse had been out of action due to wrist and finger injuries after last playing for England in the fifth Test of the Ashes 2025-26 in Sydney.
Carse was supposed to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) after being retained by the franchise for Rs 1 Crore, ahead of the season.
However, he was ruled out midway through the tournament after sustaining an injury to his bowling hand (right hand) while training ahead of SRH’s opening game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The 30-year-old failed to recover in due time, forcing SRH to sign Dilshan Madushanka as his replacement.
As a result, he also missed the three-match Test series against New Zealand in June. Carse recently made his comeback in England’s domestic T20 tournament, the Vitality Blast, playing for Durham. He has scalped four wickets from three matches on his return, with best figures of 2/28 in four overs against Derbyshire.
Carse's ODI career numbers
Brydon Carse’s last appearance in the 50-over format came against New Zealand in Wellington on November 1, 2025, where he scored a valuable 36 (30) lower down the order and also scalped 1/60 in ten overs.
He has taken 34 wickets from 29 innings in his ODI career so far, with best figures of 5/61. Carse has also scored 264 runs with a highest score of 36.
England updated squad for ODI series against India: Harry Brook (Captain), Rehan Ahmed, Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Tom Banton, Jacob Bethell, Jos Buttler, Brydon Carse, James Coles, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Saqib Mahmood, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Josh Tongue.
