Rajasthan Royals (RR) have signed Emanjot Chahal as a replacement for wicketkeeper-batter Ravi Singh ahead of their last league fixture of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) against Mumbai Indians (MI). Rajasthan acquired Ravi Singh at the IPL 2026 mini-auction for Rs 95 Lakh.

However, the wicketkeeper batter could only play one match in the season, scoring 4 (2) against Delhi Capitals and has now been ruled out due to a hamstring injury. In his place, Emanjot Chahal has been signed for Rs 30 Lakh. Chahal is a spin all-rounder from Patiala and represents Punjab in domestic cricket.

He’s yet to play an official T20 or a one-day game in senior cricket. He made his first-class debut in October 2024 against Kerala and played only one game in the previous Ranji Trophy season.

In the first three class matches, he’s scored 105 runs at an average of 26.25 with a best score of 83 against Karnataka. The left-arm spinner has also scalped 11 wickets at an average of 28.27 with best figures of 3/43.

How can Rajasthan qualify for playoffs?

Rajasthan Royals have their playoffs hopes in their own hands heading into their last fixture against MI at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Riyan Parag-led side is placed fourth on the IPL 2026 points table with seven wins from 13 matches, having 14 points to its name.

They only need to win their upcoming fixture to qualify for the playoffs. However, should they lose, their qualification will be dependent on Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) and Punjab Kings’ (PBKS) losses in their respective last fixtures.

They will also have to keep their net run rate better than Delhi Capitals (DC) to progress ahead. Hence, Rajasthan will give their all to earn a qualification with a victory in the upcoming game.

MI sign Mahipal Lomror and Ruchit Ahir

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) have also announced replacements for all rounder Raj Angad Bawa and wicketkeeper batter Quinton de Kock, who were ruled out of the season. De Kock sustained a tendon injury in his left wrist, while Bawa suffered a ligament tear in his right thumb.

In their places, MI have signed Mahipal Lomror and Ruchit Ahir. Lomror is an experienced all-rounder and has played 40 IPL matches in his career. He has previously represented Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He has also been part of Delhi Capitals' (DC) and Gujarat Titans' (GT) camp, but didn’t get to play a game for the two teams.

In T20s, he has scored 333 runs from 12 innings at an average of 41.62 and a strike rate of 169.03 with two fifties to his name.

Lomror joins MI for INR 50 Lakh, while Ahir has been signed for INR 30 lakh ahead of their last league fixture.
