India’s T20I captain Shreyas Iyer has stormed into the top ten of the ICC T20I batters’ rankings following his maiden century in the format. Iyer slammed 102* off 43 balls in the first T20I against West Indies on Tuesday, October 7 in Lucknow. He clobbered ten fours and six sixes in his innings, helping India chase down the target of 172 in 14.4 overs.
Following his spectacular innings, Iyer jumped 18 places to move into the top ten for the first time in his career and is now seventh with a career-best 786 rating.
He joins his teammates Ishan Kishan (first), Abhishek Sharma (second) and Tilak Varma (10th) inside the top ten. In the ODI batting rankings list, India’s ODI captain Shubman Gill has extended his lead at the top with 841 rating.
Gill recently hit his second double hundred in the 50-over format, scoring an unbeaten 223* (133) in the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati. Courtesy of his innings, India completed their highest successful run chase in the format, overhauling a 406-run target in just 43.3 overs.
Gill also hit a century in the first ODI and was deservedly adjudged Player of the Series for finishing as the highest run scorer of the three-match series with 334 runs from three innings at an average of 167.
Abrar Ahmed dethroned from top
Meanwhile, Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has been dethroned from the top of the T20I bowling rankings after picking just one wicket from two innings in the recent Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket event.
He has been replaced by Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, who sits at the top with 720 ratings to his name. India's Axar Patel has also taken a giant leap, jumping 16 places to seventh.
