Sri Lanka women announced their squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Friday, May 29. Chamari Athapaththu, who has featured in all the editions of the tournament so far, will be leading the team in the mega event.
Sri Lanka are placed in Group B in the tournament alongside Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, West Indies and England. They will begin their campaign against the hosts England in the curtain-raiser fixture on June 12 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.

Inoka Ranaweera is the most notable absentee from the squad, who has the experience of playing 91 T20Is under her belt. The left-arm spinner has scalped 97 wickets in her career at an average of 19.06 and an economy of 5.95.
She scalped three wickets from as many games in the last series against Bangladesh in April 2026. Along with her, Rashmika Sewwandi and Dewmi Vihanga have also been left out of the team.
Meanwhile, the squad features several new names from the squad that played the previous edition of the tournament two years ago in 2024.
Imesha Dulani, Hansima Karunarathne, Kaushini Nuthyangana, Sugandika Dassanayaka, Nimasha Madushani, Kawya Kavindi, Malki Madara and Mithali Ayodhya will all be playing their maiden edition of the Women's T20 World Cup.
The squad also features plenty of experienced campaigners, with the presence of Hasini Perera, Harshitha Samarawickrama, and Nilakshika Silva alongside Athapaththu.
