Bangladesh registered history in Sylhet on Wednesday (May 20) as they beat Pakistan in the second and final Test of the ongoing two-match series by 78 runs to close the bilateral contest 2-0. Notably, this is Bangladesh's second consecutive 2-0 sweep over Pakistan, and their first on home soil against them.
Taijul Islam (6/120) did the trick early for the hosts on day 5 of the Test. The slow left-arm orthodox bowler got the better of Sajid Khan as he found his outside edge and got him caught by Najmul Hossain Shanto at first slip.

The wicket brought an end to a 54-run stand for the eighth wicket between Mohammad Rizwan and Sajid, which was the last ray of hope for Pakistan to get over the line on the final day. Taijul's wicket of Sajid brought up his 18th five-wicket haul in red-ball cricket for the Bangla Tigers.
Sajid's wicket threw a spanner in the works of Pakistan, who were gradually but steadily crawling towards their target of 437. Shoriful Islam then got the big fish out in the form of Mohammad Rizwan immediately after Sajid's wicket and made Bangladesh's win a mere formality.
Shoriful bowled a length ball outside off, angling further away from Rizwan, who poked at it and hit it straight to the gully fielder, where Mehidy Hasan Miraz grabbed a sharp catch. Rizwan's valiant innings of 94 came to a tragic end, and he was also robbed of a deserved hundred.
Taijul then dismissed Khurram Shahzad to claim his six-for and sealed the game in Bangladesh's favour by a handsome margin. Litton Das was adjudged the Player of the Match (POTM).
