India have unveiled their squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka scheduled to be played in August. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah make their comeback to the longest format after being rested for the one-off Test against Afghanistan.

However, Bumrah's availability will be subject to fitness clearance as he suffered a knee injury ahead of the series-decider third ODI against England at Lord's.

Madhya Pradesh all-rounder Saransh Jain has earned his maiden India call-up. In 54 first-class matches, he has scored 2223 runs at an average of 31.75 with two hundreds and 14 fifties.

On the other hand, the off-spinner has 188 wickets to his name at an average of 27.30, with ten five-wicket hauls. The 33-year-old put his all-round skills on display during the recent tour of India A to Sri Lanka, scoring an unbeaten 70 and picking up six wickets in the second four-day game.

Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan’s availability is also subject to fitness, while Washington Sundar was unavailable for selection. He sustained a right hamstring injury during the second ODI against England but was expected to be fit in time for the upcoming series.

The two-match Test series is scheduled to begin on August 15, with the first Test set to be played at Galle International Stadium, Galle. The second Test will begin on August 23 at Sinhalese Sports Club, Colombo. Ahead of the series, India will also play a four-day practice match in Colombo, starting on 7 August.

India eyeing a hat-trick of Test series wins in Sri Lanka

India will be eyeing their third successive Test series win in Sri Lanka and fifth successive overall against the Island nation. The Test rubber is extremely crucial for India to improve their standing in the World Test Championship (WTC) points table for the 2025-27 cycle.

The Shubman Gill-led side is currently placed at fifth position with four wins and as many losses from nine matches, having a points percentage of 48.15%.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka are placed sixth, having won one out of their four matches so far, with a points percentage of 41.67%.

India’s squad for Tests against Sri Lanka: Shubman Gill [C], KL Rahul [VC], Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant [WK], Sai Sudharsan*, Dhruv Jurel [WK], Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Manav Suthar, Jasprit Bumrah*, Mohd. Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Devdutt Padikkal, Saransh Jain
