Punjab Kings (PBKS) have quashed rumours around fast bowler Arshdeep Singh’s fitness ahead of their final league fixture of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026). Arshdeep featured in Punjab’s last match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Dharamsala, where he returned figures of 1/43 in four overs.

After the game, there have been some reports circulating about his fitness issues and his likelihood of missing Punjab’s last fixture against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). However, PBKS have put an end to the rumours through a post on their Instagram account, mentioning that Arshdeep is fully fit and has been actively training with the squad.

“Contrary to reports, we would like to confirm that our leading fast bowler and highest wicket-taker, Arshdeep Singh, is fully fit and has been actively training with the squad. The team management is absolutely pleased with his progress, and he is raring to go as we head into a crucial contest of the tournament,” PBKS posted on their Instagram account.

“His energy, rhythm, and commitment in the nets have been extremely encouraging, and we are confident he will continue to play a key role for Punjab Kings moving forward as well,” the post added.

Arshdeep is the leading wicket-taker for Punjab in the ongoing season, having scalped 14 wickets from 13 innings at an average of 34.92 and an economy of 9.78 with best figures of 3/22. Meanwhile, Punjab’s chances of playoffs qualification are hanging by a loose thread following their 23-run defeat against RCB.

Punjab's playoffs hopes hang by loose thread

It was the sixth successive loss for the Shreyas Iyer-led side, who started their campaign by remaining unbeaten in the first seven games. However, things have only gone downhill for them after facing their first loss of the season against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

They’re now placed fourth on the IPL 2026 points table with 13 points from as many games. Punjab now desperately need to win their last fixture on May 23 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to remain alive in the playoffs race.

However, a win alone won’t guarantee a playoffs spot as they will also be dependent on the results of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
